The Dosage of Sodium Cacodylate Intravenously
نویسنده
چکیده
Sodium cacodylatk is one of the most frequently used organic salts of arsenic, with the exception of salvarsan, in fact it was the fore-runner of salvarsan. Before the days of the latter drug" this was the most extensively used of the arsenical preparations. It was given orally and more often subcutaneously at short intervals to get the desired effect. On referring to the literature about it I find that the dose recommended for subcutaneous injection is very small, from one-half a grain to 3 grains and ampoules of these strengths only are still available on the market. Experiments on animals have shown, however, that timidity in the use of this drug is groundless and that it can be tolerated in very large doses without toxic effects. The Americans have made use of this fact, and have been giving as much as 30 grains twice

Osmolar concentration and fixation of mycoplasmas.
Broth cultures of Acholeplasma laidlawii were fixed with various concentrations of cacodylate-buffered glutaraldehyde. The shape and ultrastructure of the organisms varied with the osmolar concentration of the fixative. When the fixation mixture was hypertonic to the culture medium, ultrathin sections suggested that the cells had shrunk. Phosphate buffer, sodium chloride, or sucrose at comparab...
متن کاملEstimating the Optimal Dosage of Sodium Valproate in Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy with Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System
Introduction: Epilepsy is a clinical syndrome in which seizures have a tendency to recur. Sodium valproate is the most effective drug in the treatment of all types of generalized seizures. Finding the optimal dosage (the lowest effective dose) of sodium valproate is a real challenge to all neurologists. In this study, a new approach based on Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) was pre...

Fixation was initiated by adding an equal volume of fixative solution, previously warmed to 37°C, to the cells after treatment with zinc oxide nanoparticles for 24 hours. The fixative solution contained 5% glutaraldehyde (Electron Microscopy Sciences. Euromedex, Strasbourg, France) in a 0.1 M sodium cacodylate buffer (both Merck, Darmstadt, Germany) (305 mOsm. pH 7.3). After 10 min the mixture ...

we may orientate the position of any calculi and that the radiograph should be of both kidneys. Speaking of sarcomata which are inoperable he has had excellent results from the combined use of Coley's fluid, cacodylate of sodium, and X-rays. Sodium cacodylate is given hypodermically, 2, 3, or 4 grains being administered daily and then increasing the dose to 10 grains every third or fourth day. ...
متن کاملEvaluation of fixative solutions for ultrastructural analysis of brown spider Loxosceles intermedia (Araneae: Sicariidae) tissues.
In view of the widely varying compositions of fixative solutions used for studying spiders, five different fixative formulas were tested for fixing male brown-spider (Loxosceles intermedia) gonad tissues. The brown spider represents a public health problem in Curitiba (Paraná State, Brazil). Morphological study of its gonads may aid in understanding the reproductive strategies of this species, ...
